Our Planned Route – Original thoughts
Our home is Auckland, New Zealand. Our original plan was to travel across Central Asia visiting the distant and romantic sounding Silk Route historic cities. Soon however, we are asking ourselves, “Why start and end in the middle”. Thus the idea was born of visiting exotic and remote places around the world on an extended overland adventure.
How long the adventure will last will be dependent on several factors including climate limitations (who wants to battle through freezing cold during mid winter), travel wariness (too much of a good thing….?), homesickness (cut off from our loved ones).
Our basic travel concept is to follow the sun and enjoy an endless summer. That means that we roughly need to be in the northern countries April to September and in the southern countries October to March.
Our current plan is that we will spend the next year travelling from Singapore across South East Asia and Central Asia to India. The following year we plan to travel mainly through Eastern and parts of Western Europe.
After that, who knows, South America is a great prospect.
On the road
A lot of great plans change as they mature and get refined. The first part of our trip is fortunately on target. Our vehicle was shipped to Singapore early in January 2017 after months of preparation. We are due to start our overland adventure from Singapore in late January 2017.
